Having surgery soon...
I have having and external part of my tumor removed and another smaller fibroma removed from my left temple January 12 2012. Its dangerous as in bleeding and possible paralization. but the doctor thinks it is worth the risk because there appear to be easily removed. What do you think?

There are many surgeries that are risky...but many people take their chances.
Good luck with your surgery. ((((VIBES))))

I think that if this surgery will improve your quality of life, and especially if NOT having it will be detrimental, you should seriously consider it. If you have ANY doubts, you should ask for a second opinion. Your doc should expect and encourage that, and work with you to obtain one.

Thank you for the support. I think reducing the size of my tumor on my neck would be helpful for my self-image and career wise. It is visibly the size of a grapefruit. And I want to do this I have since I was very young I think now that the risk of it regrowing has been reduced now os the perfect time in my life.

If the doc thinks it can be easily removed with little risk, then trust he knows what he's doing. I agree it would probably help your public image a bit careerwise. Good luck with the surgery. (((((((((((((HEALING VIBES)))))))))))))))))

i like what suzzz said. it does sound like it will help your quality of life...bet it will help your self esteem as well. but if you have any hesitation or second thoughts get a second opinion.if nothing else, maybe just to see what the options are.

Re: Having surgery soon...
I hear what you're saying about your mom having to take time off to care for you post-op. What does SHE say? Is this a possibility for her? Is her work okay with it? *ahem* Are your cold, scaredycat feet using that as a possible excuse to pull a blanket over your head and avoid the whole thing? Hmmm?
You've been brave living with this for a long time. Actual invasive treatment must be mighty scary. But if the risks are small and the results potentially great, I think you owe it to yourself to brave up once again and go for it. I'm guessing your mom is 100% behind you. True?

I know I just love her so much that I want her to be able to use them to treat herself to a spa day or something.

Re: Having surgery soon...
Oh, yeah. Your mom would rather lie back and get a facial, thinking "Sure, I could have taken my personal days seeing my beloved daughter through a scary but hopeful ordeal that means so much to all of us, and doing everything in my power to care for her afterwards, but ooooo this seaweed scrub was just too nice to miss." Puhleeeze! I'm a mom, and you can't fool me. It's sweet of you to think of her, and I truly believe you're sincere, but if you love your mother, let her be there for you. Trust me, that's what moms want most.

Re: Having surgery soon...
i dont't know what state you live in (or if this law is nation wide)...or where you mom works. but there's a sign up in our lunch room about taking time off to care for a sick relative. and i;m pretty sure you're a close enough relative mother/daughter for it to count! i think that they actually have to pay you for it. bits worth looking into...if its the same as here she might not have to use her personal days for it.
gawd, if they give you paid time off for over a month just for having a kid they sure should be able to give ya a few days to help that kid when its older!

Many, if not most, of us here are over 21, and I'd say all of us are pretty mature. If you want to tell us about it, darling, we'll listen.

Re: Having surgery soon...
A man my mother had dated years ago hit on me and began to try and pursue, a relationship with me. The man is 25 ears older than me, old enough to be my father . I feel violated. I never did anything to indicate I was interested. And my mom trusted him with things concerning my health. When she went to talk to him about how she should be there for me during and after the surgery. He threw a fit. I am just hurt and scared
I blocked him and so has my mom he cannot contact us any more.
