Re: Injured kitten
I am doing the Happy Dance for Tessie!
So glad she found a wonderful family and her furever home at last. After all she's been through she deserves everything good in life from here on out. Can't wait to hear an update on how she settles in, and maybe some pics too.

Re: Injured kitten
Tessie's new family got delayed for a couple of days, but they picked her up this afternoon. They are a beautiful, sweet family, and Tess will be very happy once she settles in. Since they came later than they expected, I got to meet everyone. Makes things easier.

Re: Injured kitten
Tessie's adopter had to return her. The lady's mom moved into her house, and was jealous of the little cat. Tessie's adopter couldn't trust her mother not to just put the cat out while she was away at work. We transferred Tess to Look What the Cat Brought In, as they can find her a new home faster than we can down here, plus that will save Tess from having to ride the bus back and forth--a total of 6 hours each time she would go to a fair. Yesterday I got the saddest email from the woman who had to give up Tess:
"Just wondered about Tess, how she is doing. We miss her so much, there is not a day we don't think about her. We actually went to build-a-bear and they had a cute calico cat that looked just like tess, so we bought her and named her Tess. Definatly not as cute as Tess, but since she is a stuffed animal, my mother doesn't object. Let me know if you can. Thanks"

That is not only sad but tragic. I feel my heart goes to that woman.

That email is just so sad to me. I told her what I know about Tess, and suggested that she may want to volunteer at LWTCBI. She'd get to love on some real kitties, at least.

That is so sad about Tess and her owner.
I can't believe her mom made her give up Tess.

Re: Injured kitten
This would be hard to believe if I didn't know how difficult dementia sufferers can be. My heart goes out to that woman who has taken in such a difficult parent. If Tess wasn't safe there she did the right thing, but that little love-fluff might have given her a lot of comfort during a bad time. I'm truly sorry it didn't work out.
May Tess find a proper home soon. If you hear anything, gbste, I know you'll let us know.

Re: Injured kitten
I feel so sad for Tess' adoptive mom for having to give her up. I know Tess misses her too. Your suggestion of volunteering at the rescue is a great one, she can get her fill of kitty lovin' without her mom complaining about it.
I doubly feel bad for her having to take in such a parent............if it had been me, the cat would've stayed and if mom didn't like it mom would've been sent to live elsewhere! Dementia does not get better, and I'd wager her mom will be too far gone for her to handle in a short time relatively speaking and she'd be in a home anyway. My great uncle was so nasty to everyone his last two years, the dementia took away everything he was before and left us with a stranger we couldn't stand to be around. He was getting physically dangerous to the family before the heart attack ended his misery.
Please keep us posted on how Tessie is doing, and when she gets another new home. Hopefully this one will be permanent!

Re: Injured kitten
I don't think that the mom has dementia. She was driving a separate vehicle when they came through Lamar, so she has at least that much going for her. She didn't look that old, either. Can't even guess what's going on in that family.

Re: Injured kitten
Then I definitely would've given mom an ultimatum......live here and get along with the cat or you can go elsewhere, Tessie is staying. And I'd have someone keep an eye on mom so she won't hurt the cat if she decided to stay. Shame she couldn't find a foster home for Tessie until mom moved on......
I've learned furkids are far kinder and more loyal than most humans can ever be, even family.

Re: Injured kitten
Fif, we don't what's going on. It could be other things than dementia. The woman was obviously heart
broken to give up Tess and did the right thing by reaching out to the rescue that she came from.

Re: Injured kitten
This whole story makes me sad. Tessie lost her home, her adopter lost a great little friend, and the mother just seems to be spiteful. I hope that everything works out in the end for Tess and for the kind lady who tried to give her a home.

Re: Injured kitten
Same here gbste. I'm hoping mom moves out so that lady can have Tessie back. But if fate has decided otherwise, then I hope Tessie finds a great family and that lady eventually can have another lil kitty friend to love.
