Re: Junko, calico kitten
My mom did mention going to the spay/neuter clinic to get her spayed and she may not care about what the vet's office think about it. I won't argue if they do go to the spay/neuter clinic for Junko's spay.

I don't think you're vet will care. If they are your regular vet they are usually pretty
mellow about it.

Our vet has no problems recommending the clinic to their regular customers. They like that it raises money for the rescues, and then the doggies and kitties often become regular patients.

My vet feels the same way. They did have one vet, she was a great vet but she could not
bring herself to work in a shelter enviorment. I'm not talking about the s/n clinics but the actual shelters themselves. No shame to her, it's something everyone is cut out for.

If you can get her spayed low/no cost I say GO FOR IT. No good vet will be upset if you take her elsewhere to get it done, as long as it is done properly.

Junko is scheduled to get spayed on Monday. My dad decided to let the regular vet do it since they have her records.

Great. Sometimes if you're a regular client they will give you a break.

Junko is at the vet now. My dad pay an extra $20 for the stitches that disappear as the incision heals.

The surgery went fine and we can pick her up this afternoon. Additional fee was tacked on since they had to do a flea bath on the poor girl since they discovered fleas on her. My parents have been battling fleas for almost half the year anyway. My dad will look into the flea spray that can be used on carpet and upholstery.

Glad to hear everything went smoothly for Junko. Give her some hugs from me, will ya?
Washing everything possible in HOT water helps to get rid of fleas too. Gotta treat every week for at least a month to really get rid of them, the yard too. Been there, done that.

As far as chemical treatments go, we've had great luck with Adam's. It's not the cheapest, but it really works.

Re: Junko, calico kitten
Her incision is still looking good. I did see few Adam's products in the nearest Wal Mart store. Since my parents are the ones buying the flea treatments, I have to be careful about what I say about said treatments.

Yesterday, Junko was running laps at full speed. She even went after the other cats. She is officially herself. I'm still checking the incision site.

I've found not much keeps a kitten down for long....not even major surgery. Glad to hear Junko is back to her old self already.

Re: Junko, calico kitten
It's been tempting to throw Junko out in the snow to see what she will do. I won't do it, since I lack the nerve to do it. I don't want to think about the Christmas tree. This is her first Christmas. That girl is almost 7 months old.

Ha! I can remember GK's first snow and first Christmas. He had no interest in the tree. He was very funny about the snow. He shook his feet at every step.

Antonio went for about two steps and came back in. No wet frozen stuff
for him.

Bijoux only looks out....won't step out at all in the snow. Has Junko looked out of the door when it's open?

She has looked out when the door is open. During the summer, she managed to escape outside few times when one of us went in or out of the house. Junko hasn't tried to escape since the weather turned cold.

Re: Junko, calico kitten
Junko had her orientation with the ornaments and the Christmas tree. She watched my dad and I put ornaments on the tree and she decided she would climb the tree. Before the ornaments were put on the tree, my dad put strand of beads on the tree. Junko tried to climb up my dad's jeans to get the end that was dangling.

Re: Junko, calico kitten
Heehee! My friend used to hang her tree from a hook in the ceiling because her cat would always climb the tree. She put a hook up there, tied a string to the trunk near the top, and put the bottom in the tree stand. The cat was into knocking down ornaments, but never got the tree knocked over.

I wonder what Antonio will do with the table tree this year. Hopefully this year
I will get one.
