Another busy doggie day. We went to the Farmer's Market, and then to Tractor Supply to get bedding for horses. The shelter people were at TS with some more adoptable dogs, and Bingo socialized. A few of the ladies remember him from his stay. They were very happy to see him. Of course, a nice trip to the farm store means ham bones for good doggies. Today, we have a clean doggie. He went for his spa treatment, and as usual, got gold stars for being a good dog for the groomer. They always say he's the easiest dog they get to work with. Smile He got some extra treats when we got home, and is resting comfortably on his pillow. (We turned on the AC since it's supposed to be hot and humid tomorrow after today's tropical rains.)

He is! Smile He is actually pretty prissy. He licks his feet when he has to walk in the wet grass. LOL Laughing

Bingo was so good today. He stayed in the yard even when crowds of bikes were going down the street. He wagged at a few, but didn't move to go out to the street. We didn't walk because there were too many bikes, and I didn't want him getting too excited. It's bad to get all wiggly and panty when it's hot outside anyway.

So happy to hear not only is Bingo still a clean doggie but also a well mannered gentleman with good sense. A bike convention going down the street is a big temptation to some furkids, but not our Bingo. Good boy. Very Happy

We made this mistake of walking in the early afternoon today. It was way too hot. It was fine on the way out, but on the way back, he was panting and I was sweating. We turned on the AC when we got home. He's still passed out. Poor dog. I feel kind of bad for making him do it.

It happens.....don't beat yourself over it. I'm sure Bingo forgave you the instant you turned on the AC. Glad you both survived the trip home in the heat.

It wasn't as bad as it's going to be. We'll have to change to morning/evening walks (after/before mosquito swarm time).

We went to the Yappy Hour for the shelter today. It was at a beautiful bulb garden store that has a nice covered room for parties. The rain didn't bother us at all. We had wonderful smoked ribs. Bingo says, "More please!"

We're going to try to go to the last Yappy Hour next week. It will be at the same place. My friend is going to bring her 10 month old puppy who is as big as Bingo already. He is easily excited and kind of clumsy. She's hoping that socializing with calmer dogs will help him. I hope Bingo sets a good example and doesn't get all excited himself. He actually fell asleep under one of the party tables yesterday. I hope he teaches the pup about the beauty of being a lump when out and about. Smile

We're back on allergy pills. Something is blooming that doesn't like Bingo. He has lots of energy, and his ear isn't nasty, so I think I caught this one in time.

Be ready for the mosquitoes. The lemon/rosemary spray is good for Bingo and me. It smells great, doesn't stain, and keeps the nasty biters away for a while.

The rain here isn't helping me breathe easy either. All that pollen, the mold, the humidity alone.......I just know the skeeter population here will explode!

Get ready to donate several gallons of blood every time you step outside....

We had some thunder earlier. Bingo was oblivious. He doesn't seem to enjoy summer weather much. It wasn't even all that hot, but he looks like he prefers to lie under the fan.

Bingo did not make it to the last Yappy Hour. I had to work, and would have had to drive past and back to get him. Next-to-last day of commuting for me! Poor dog didn't get to visit all the wonderful people who remember him from the shelter.

Will they resume Yappy Hour later on in the year? I bet Bingo missed seeing all those people he remembers from the shelter too. They were probably very good to him there.

Remember this strip? From Nov. 1, 1998:
Earl: Where are you going, Shtinky?
Shtinky: I'm going to see the angels!
Earl & Mooch: Angels?
Shtinky: Not too long ago, I was lost, scared, hungry, and all alone. Then the angels came. One washed me, one fed me, one fixed up my busted leg. Then they all held me so I wouldn't feel so alone in this big old world. Then they found me my Annie!
As he's walking into the animal shelter Shtinky says, " Yup, angels I say"

Awww! Yeah... Bingo was a shelter favorite. He used to be the greeter pup, and stayed there for over a year. They were very good to him.

I'm not sure if Yappy Hour will start up again. The shelter tries to vary its events to draw people out to see the animals. The hardest part is that people think everything is a fundraiser when they are really just publicity events.

Bingo has hiccoughs. He's sound asleep, and he's making these cute little sounds. I asked him if he was ok, and he woke up, but kept doing it. Wonder what caused it.
