Re: For Dinner Tonight?
It's time to start the turkey leftovers. Tonight was hash. I think tomorrow is curry. Then, I'll start up the Crock Pot to make stock and freeze it for next week. It will be good to do soup since we have to budget to get GK's surgery paid off.

Baked chicken with Brussels sprouts. An orange and a cupcake for dessert. My BGL was 57!

I did lamb shanks last Saturday. I love those things but damn are they expensive.

Had zoodles with the new Hormel sandwich makers meatballs in marinara sauce. Just barely enough sauce to coat the zoodles but it was good.

Home made lasagne with sauce made from summer tomatoes. It was really good!

Sweet potato, kale, shiitake mushrooms caramelized in a ginger sauce over orzo. It was amazing.

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
And you would have liked it....it's a version of the recipe you sent me so long ago.
Tonights fare: Chicken with sugar snap peas. Last night I made a small batch of my shrimp chowder (cauliflower, carrots, celery, onion, a bit of bacon, milk, cream, thyme)

Let's see: a big batch of soup, chowder, baked ham....but the chili sounds good too.
Tonight: smoked sausage with snap peas, blackberries, chased down with a couple of dark Dove squares chocolate.

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
A friend went clamming and gave us the bigger ones for chowder. I made the Chesapeake Bay kind with a clear broth made out of the liquid from cooking the clams. It was really good. We even bought some oyster crackers to go with it.

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
I found a marinade at Whole Foods, it's local so I don't think it can be found nationally. It's a Yucatian marinade. Work in progress, since it has a citrus, cinnamon base I'm thinking a coconut milk based saffron rice. I'm still working on the veggie. I did this with chicken.

It sounds GREAT. I'll check my store for something local. Maybe we can swap.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup. The local bread baker has started baking again. He took time off to re-do his kitchen. Now, we have delicious bread again. Yum!

The grilled cheese sounds great but I've never been keen on tomato soup.

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
I love it -- even the canned kind. It's one of those childhood memories.
Tonight was Irish supper -- cabbage, potatoes, and "corned beef" that was actually ham because I can't corn a whole brisket and I hate grocery corned beef. It was a good, cheap meal and there are leftovers for the rest of the week.
