Spreads the pain out too. I need to do spring shots next month, and then it's "look for hay" time.

Today was bareback day for Envoy. I didn't feel like tacking up and putting on boots. So, I groomed real quick, popped a bridle on, and flung a leg over. Oh my! It's been a while. He was a great boy, and walked around like he was having the best time. Of course, we just walked, but it was really fun. Of course, I'm COVERED in hair and itch like crazy. Laughing

We did. I had to wash the riding pants when I got home. It was quite itchy. Laughing

Today, Kina and I rode for only about 20 minutes. The pine pollen is so bad that we both were coughing. There's a layer of yellow "dust" on everything.

I don't even have allergies, and it's bothering me. The horses have a layer of pollen on their backs, and their poor noses are crusted with the stuff. I plan to keep all exercise light since it doesn't pay to get the breathing rate up. It's like trying to breathe solid air. Yuck.

Today, i am getting the home barn ready for arrival. I need to knock down cobwebs and get the stalls ready to be bedded. I also need to buy bedding. Before all that, I need to clear out the aisle. We parked all the equipment in there because we had so much rain and snow this winter.

Only got about 1/2 way done. But, I have a week to finish. I just realized that I need new fans in the stalls too. The ones that are up now have so much dirt and garbage on them, I'm afraid they're a fire hazard. I don't trust them even after they're cleaned.

Most definitely. Today is cold and cloudy. I am going to have to wear a coat to go to school today. I think the horses will need sheets for the rain that's coming. Rolling Eyes Shocked I thought we were past all that mess.

Totally cold, miserable rain. No fun. And, no riding because the tack room was locked. My friend was out of the house, and I didn't know where the key was. Apparently, some suspicious characters were rolling around the area, and she didn't trust leaving the room open. So, now I know where the key is, and I can unlock tomorrow if she isn't around. Smile No big deal. I cleaned and just puttered around. Hopefully, it will stop raining tomorrow so I can move some hay.

The strange characters are worrisome. When she is out of town does someone stay on the property?

Her husband normally stays home. They are both retired, so they don't go out of town often. But, I have told them I can stay at their place if they need a farm sitter.

Good. What people don't realize that horses that hit the slaughter pipeline are often stolen.

Yup. There isn't much horse theft around us, but tack is another story. There is always a rash of saddle/bridle thefts at the beginning of show season. Usually, the thefts are at boarding places because they have more stuff in one spot. But, it never hurts to be careful.

Today, I'm going to finish the home barn prep (except for bedding the stalls) and go to school to work there. I hope I have enough energy to ride.

No naps, but the hay is moved, the stalls and paddocks are clean, the horses are brushed. Envoy and I walked around for about half an hour. He wants to go trail riding. Today wouldn't have been good because of all the rain yesterday. We wouldn't go even if the trailer were hitched up. Soon...

I just realized that I need to get shavings for home stalls. We're almost ready, but not really. Water buckets and tank both need good scrubs. Sigh... I know I'll forget something.

Unfortunately, no riding on this beautiful day. I had to work really late, so I just had time to clean up, feed, and hit the road. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice as well, so I hope I get there earlier. The last week at boarding school is really busy.

No riding today. My friend sent me a text to tell me that her husband went to the hospital today. He has a really bad UTI. Yuck! So, I cleaned her stalls and fed her horses. I had to go to the grocery store after the barn, so I will just ride on Saturday. Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be stinky. Even with an indoor, it probably won't be a day for riding.

He was home today. He feels a bit puny from being so sick so quickly, but he's on the mend. His kitty is so happy that he's home.

The horses were maniacs today. We had a low pressure system off the coast, and I guess they were wound up from it.
