This house has no insulation, I swear it doesn't.
While there were lights, there were no yapsters. When I
opened the back door mom was sitting on the back porch facing
the door. The gray and white kitten sprinted off. Mom paced me
when I was heading for the feeding station. Waited on the porch of the
vacant house for me to set the food down. When I went out tonight someone
had been sitting on the couch because the pillows were down. I propped them
upright so if the cats want to the can snug in.

Awwww..........mom was waiting for you. So sweet, does she let you come close at all? And great you arranged the cushions for optimal kitty comfort in the cold.

First things first. Major sightings and I do mean MAJOR!!!!
Was going to with another member to the laundry room and there
was a kitty convention next to the house. Some of them I'd seen before
others I hadn't. I spooked the gray and white kitten off the furniture pads
when I went to snag some catnip for Antonio.

All was quiet on tonight's run. Lights on, no yapsters no cats. I'm following
the weather very closely because it is supposed to get nasty over the weekend.
I will do my best to make sure the wild bunch has a place or places to get out of
the weather.

Maybe the kitties wanted you to know just how many of them there are counting on you for food, and for places to get in out of the cold? Shame you spooked the lil kit, poor baby didn't know you only wanted a bit of catnip for yourself. Did that kitten look like he was going to try the catnip himself?

No lights, no yapsters. I put out the chicken neck and innards along
with the a can of food. Also I made sure they had easy access to under
the Lair house and the back porch. The temps are dropping and the only
thing i can do is make sure they have food, water and a safe place to huddle.

i'm hoping as long as they have something to snuggle into ,water they can drink and food they will get together for body heat. i don't think where you are and the way you take care of them you'll find the hideous sight i had to see the year of the big blizzard back in MI...when my father wouldn't let me out to the chicken coop (nor would he go out there) to give my beagle water, food or to bring him into the house to get warm. he insistated that the barrel he had to live in was warm enough and he could eat snow for water.

i'm glad i'm much more intelligent than he is at a much younger age. i only wish i could have stood up to him back then...i wouldn't be haunted by this thought now.

i don't think any houses built before the70s (or at least bthe 60s)were insulated...even up here in the north!

Jeane, you were a child and powerless.

All quiet, haven't seen a cat all day and the weather is just awful.
It started out as rain, then changed to snow. The weather is on right now
and they are saying freezing drizzle overnight with a low in the upper 20's. I
hope that they get to the food before it freezes. I've covered the couch so they
can snug in there if they want, they have access to get underneath the Lair house. They have
access to the old garage at the vacant house. Someone broke into it and the door is standing open.
Hopefully the extra food they were getting gave them some reserves.

I have a strong feeling they're waiting for a break in the weather to come out. If the snow sticks, you might see some lil kitty prints in it. They can always carry the food to where they're hunkering down (in the case of the neck and innards), it will be warmer there so it will thaw enough to eat.

I hope so. All was quiet tonight. I haven't seen anybody
since Saturday. Still the food was gone and I freshened up
the water bowl. I thought I heard someone (cat) but didn't
see anything. Hopefully everyone is ok and just hunkered down
and coming out for the food.

Most likely that is exactly the case. After all, before the weather turned nasty you saw a LOT of the kitties you're helping. They're still around believe me.

Saw the mom today around 3 P.M. at least I think it was her. Anyway she was approaching the
house when I was out with Antonio. I thought I saw her later with what maybe some type of wound
on her neck. I will keep an eye out.

The only light's that were on were in Ole's bathroom. Other than that all was quiet.
While I didn't see anyone at the feeding station I did hear someone. The couch maybe
moved in the next day or so. I don't know yet. Still If they leave the furniture pads I can
fix something up.

Well the stupid dogs were and started the second I opened my back door.
When I got to the feeding station I thought I heard someone tell them to
shut up. I held for a few minutes then put the food and water down. The water
in the bowl was frozen, I just put fresh on top of it. Tonight's low is supposed to be
in the mid 20's. Today it barely broke freezing. Pete wrapped some of the pipes under
the house with something that like an electric blanket so I hoped the kitties are hanging
there.

The only sightings today was a black cat hunting near Bearcat's and Boo's grave site.
Then I saw a black cat later in the afternoon across the street. I don't know if it was
the one I saw earlier. Tonight there was a black kitten on the back porch of the vacant
house. This was a youngster perhaps 6 month to a year.

If what he used was a heat tape with insulation (which kinda looks like an electric blanket) then they can get a little heat from it but not much. Still, being under the house gets them out of some of the wind, and that helps a lot believe me.

Yeah, that was it Fif heat tape.

Well as was quiet and the only sighting was the young black
cat when I was putting the food down. There was ice still in
the water bowl but I was able to dump it out so I could put in
the fresh. Still the food bowl was empty and I hope the rest of
kitties are coming over to get the food tather the wildlife.

Considering how many of them you saw just before the weather turned I'm pretty sure the kitties are getting it. The wildlife that might try would get chased out or mauled by the kitties protecting their food source.

Well a yapster went off when I was leaving the feeding station. While there were lights
on nothing else happened. The only sighting was the young black cat. While the temps
have risen we are in for some rain. So they will have to make do with soggy food over
the weekend.

Y'all are not going to believe this. Open the back door to go feed and on the back porch is
three of the ferals. Mom, a black kit and another kitten that because of the poor lighting I'm not
sure what color. Mom and black kit followed me to the feeding station. I'm sure the other one was
in the shadows. Right now it's not raining but I brought in the water bowl along with the food bowl
for cleaning. I won't put out the water bowl until it stops raining it gets too nasty.

Yes, it was and there was another parade tonight. Open the back door and there is
Mom, a gray and white and kitten of undetermined color. Poor lighting, I think it may be
the brown tabby. Anyway Mom led the way to feeding station. Also saw a gray and white
adult using the ivy for a litterbox. Poor kitty, I ruined his/her moment when I came out of the Lair.
Still he/she didn't run away, just looked surprised and trotted away.

No parade tonight and the only sighting was a young adult. Gray tabby
in color. Food is out and fresh water is out since it isn't raining. All was
quiet no lights were on, no yapsters, the only life from the Buckners was in
Gary's office from the tv.

Since the weather was nicer they probably came a bit later for the food, so you didn't see them. Is the gray tabby a newbie?
