I am so relieved GK's on the mend. How did he get that infection? Hormone imbalance like me or some other reason? ((((((((((((((((((STRONG HEALING VIBES)))))))))))))))))))

He's so happy to be home. He is purring in all his usual places. He's awfully tired, but it's just because he was stressed all weekend. His meds are an antibiotic (Clavamox) and a pain killer if he needs it. So far, he doesn't act like he needs the pain killer. But, we probably will give him some before bed just so we can make sure he's comfortable for the night. Very very happy to have the little guy home!

Re: Gray Kitty gets stuck
Im happy with you!
I think it's a good idea to give him a pain med before bed. Those aches & pains will get to you in the wee hours, won't they? I suppose that may be a diurnal critter's perspective on a nocturnal critter, but I still think it might ease him to have it for a few days. Being poked and prodded in hospital is not just stressful, it hurts. GK deserves to be extra comfy while he recovers from his ordeal.

oh gk great to hear you're home and that there wasn't a major problem. infections are bad but they're usually a lot easier to treat than those nasty crystals! now be a good kitty and take your medicine with soft paws and not claw paws;) (is the medicine a liquid or a pill?)

And remember kitties also purr when they hurt too. I hope that's not the case here, but it might.

These were definitely love purrs. They came with rubs and paw mushes. He's crashed out tonight. He went outside for about 5 minutes, but came inside again for a snack and a nap. Things are going well. He tolerates (but hates) his meds, and he's been peeing up a storm. So, I think the crisis has passed.

Glad to hear the meds are working. Sounds like he's on the mend and glad for it too.

He (very happily) finished his meds today. Poor guy HATES banana flavored medicine. Right now, he's sound asleep on the back of my chair. He was outside for a while, but he still seems to tire out sooner. I figure he will rest as long as needed and then go back to his usual routine. He's eating, purring and peeing, so things are good.

Infections take a lot out of you. Glad to hear that GK is eating, peeing and
purring. Are paw mushes, like starfish paws?

Re: Gray Kitty gets stuck
Paw mushes are just like starfish paws. He's been giving those a lot. I need to use the PediPaws on him because it feels like I'm getting stabbed with little needles.
I told the vets that he'd rather have pills than banana flavored meds, but they actually didn't have any pills. They said most kitties are really hard to pill. All of mine are champs as long as I use a pill popper. Gateway even knows what "pill time" means. He lets me shoot the pill into his throat and just gulps it down. GK is a bit more fussy, but he doesn't have to take meds every day, so he isn't as much of a pro as his brother.
