new...temporary....kitty
last night when i went upstairs i saw a crate in the living room. ...i couldn't see anything more than that and thought it was a doxie that was in transport staying overnight. when i went upstairs this morning i see there's a litterbox in there.
when joe went to the gas station yesterday (i don't know when..the gas station is right across from work though)there was a little kitty wandering around, following people, getting under cars and trucks and starting toward the turnpike. welp, as much as they complain about the cats and don't want any more in here blablablab he put the kitty in the car and brought him home. They took him to the shelter here in town and were turned away. too full and,get this, they said to take it back where he found the kitty because it was against the law in this town to take in strays. yeah...right...they said that!
the lady down the street can't take him because she's full up. (and the lady who's house burned down and all the cats died can't take him..according to andrea she's connected with the lady down the street and not FOWA as the article said).
BUT they are going to take him to the vet and get his shots and get him fixed. until then i'm not supposed to touch him cuz andrea is afraid he could have something (kitty hiv or whatever). ha..i'd already petted him and picked him up and loved on him:)
He's a tigery kitty ....maybe tween age? not a year old but not a little kitten.he's very clean and very sweet....he gives more kisses than any kitty i've ever met! he wasn't boney when they found him but he was hungry.
i think he was dumped because either he wasn't a cute little bitty kitten any more OR someone from one of the apt complexes in that area moved and just dumped him cuz they didn't want him anymore.
i've asked around work and there might be someone who might take him...i took some pics but they didn't seem to get from my camera to photobucket.....when i get some pics i'll put them in here.

Of course, he really might have diseases you could pass on to the crew, so I hope you washed well before going back downstairs, but I know you're aware and did. That said, he sounds like a sweetheart! I'm so glad he's getting care! Say what you will about The People Upstairs, Joe stepped up and did the right thing.

I'm with Suzzzz... Against the law to take in strays? Who would know??? What a silly law.

Re: new...temporary....kitty
I wish i could take him ....but there are many reasons why that is not possoble....such as how could you get him to New York? I don't think Bullet would like a new pet very much.

Re: new...temporary....kitty
well they say a lot about never taking in another cat but i don't think any of them could see an animal in harm's way. i bet even pete would pick up a kitty if he saw one in trouble. (i've secretly hoped that one day a puggy would wander into the yard and never have an owner show up..i think they need to experience a pug:) ).
i just took a look over in photobucket and it seems the pictures finally came in! so let me try to post them here..they might be a little dark but lets see how they show up.
he's a hungry kitty
he's a clean kitty
he's a pretty kitty

All but the last were too dark for me to see, but the last photo shows me a beautiful cat. Maybe it's because I know his story, but what I see in his eyes is defeat yet hope. Please keep us posted, Jeane.

I wish I could see the pictures.............can someone please send them to me as an attachment to an email?
Lovekitties, are you sure you can't be equipped for a kitty in a short time? Maybe Joe will hang onto the little guy for you. I know you'd love a little lover of a kitty to come home to after a hard day at work........

Re: new...temporary....kitty
i don't know if he's home yet or not, but he went to get his shots and get 'snipped' today. he's got pretty unusual markings esp on his back. he's not very tigery..with stripes.he's got splotches like an exotic kitty!
i'll try to get more light around him for some better pictures. the lamp is behind where his carrier and cage thing is so not a lot of light gets to him.if i could find my latern type flashlight i'd take it up there and put it on the cage!
he got two little knitted blankets and a pillow for his carrier. i gave him one blanket then decided he needed another one (which is kinda small for his big carrier...you really could put a pug inside that thing)that was softer;)

What will TPU do with him now? Will he be taken to pet fairs or advertised about? I'm assuming they will try to find him a home.

Re: new...temporary....kitty
i think the lady down the street will take him to pet fairs...almost every Sun she fills her truck(suv? whatever it is)will crates of kittiese and takes them to this grocery store down the street from where i work.i don't know if he'll be going this Sun or not. i haven't even been told if its okay to hold him or not.
i did go up to visit for a few minutes when i was taking out the trash. when i came upstairs she was standing up on his hind legs on his tippy toes in his litter box.i had to look really good to see that he was taking a poop! i don't know if he's doing that because his butt hurt or if he always goes that but it was pretty funny!

Petie does that when he poops. Nothing wrong... He just wants to be as far from it as possible.

Re: new...temporary....kitty
cartier does something similar but he doesn't stand up on his toes like that;) one thing bad about found kitty....he's got the stinkiest pee and poop i've ever smelled coming from a small cat! maybe its because he wasn' neutered and will get better in a bit? ( i know its been funky down here but he's just one little kitty and you can't even see what little he's done in his box!) or maybe he needs the trader joe's litter....that stuff smells so good like fresh pine! when i clean the boxes you can smell the pine like air freshener;))
he went to this first pet fair (or whatever its called)today and came home. i tried to see if they'd put him on Pet finder but i didn't see him. i think the name of the group the lady down the street has is called "Only Kindness". i have a feeling he'll be going to another one tomorrow.....if he doesn't find a home this weekend i hope i can get a good picture of him next week.

Re: new...temporary....kitty
Ascot was like that with his poop. Part of could be his diet. I'm sure they will
post his picture. They may do it as a coutersy listing. Owner trying to rehome
a pet. Still at least they are getting him out there. Find out the name of the group,
they may have their own website with adoptable pets.

Re: new...temporary....kitty
The smell is probably because he's eating different stuff from what he's used to. It should get a little better with time. (We all know kitties aren't the sweetest smelling bathroom beings.)
