Severe Weather Check-In

Glad everything is doing well.

The storm took a completely unpredicted turn, and changed its nature. It became a hybrid storm, which has stronger winds farther from the center like a nor'easter. (Hurricanes have their strongest winds at the center.) So, we actually rode out hurricane force gusts and some pretty tremendous steady wind. We have storm surge flooding, and SO much water from the rain. I'm guessing we got about 8 or 9 inches of the stuff. Yuck. Now, I'm wishing we had gone away. But, all the trees are still standing (so far), and the power is on, so we are just fine.

Glad you didn't get the full brunt of that storm. Hope the rest miss you entirely this year.

Less than 48 hours ago a line of storms ripped through here.....70mph winds, one confirmed tornado less than 20 miles from here, another in the forest preserve only 1 1/2 miles from me. Damage resembling tornado damage here and there. I have a pic of a huge uprooted tree that landed on the house in So. Beloit, about 2 1/2 miles north of my place. Neighborhoods in Roscoe look like a war zone there's so much damage.
We are fine, though it scared the bejeesus out of Bij. All in all, three lines of those storms in one night!

Turns out we had another tornado less than a mile from here in the forest preserve. And what looks to me like several more touched down here and there on their way out of town. Just weren't reported since it was so dark nobody could see them coming.

Wednesday night was another one with tornado sirens and us out in the hallway to wait it out. Bijoux was not happy with my waking him from a nap and stuffing him in his carrier. The dog across the hall tried to say hi but Bij hissed and tried to swat at him through the carrier....twice. It's only been 2 weeks since the last storm like this.
Now it's storming like that again as I type this, so getting offline now.

Same here.....only lots more rain than we usually get.

It's brutally cold here in Dallas. So far everyone is fine and the Rodent Patrol is hunkered down somewhere safe. they were here for breakfast and I think lunch. No one tonight.

We had some days here recently with wind chills at or below zero.

JEEZ!!! We weren't that bad.
