Severe Weather Check-In Empty Severe Weather Check-In

Post by BobCat Wed Jun 23, 2010 8:20 pm

Hooooweee! Did we ever have a storm whip past us just now! We thought for sure we would lose our Chinese elm, but it stood up the the almost 80 mph wind gusts. It's headed for Indiana as we speak, so I hope to hear from fluffnstuff soon to make sure everything's OK. How about everyone else? Everybody OK?

It went north of me and completely missed me. Last night, I did hear about some warnings for some the northern counties.

The majority of that storm missed us too, and went a bit north. There were warnings all over the tv for all sorts of places............

There must have been two waves, because I'm a bit further south and we got slammed.

just after 2:00 today ( i know only cuz they cut into Bonnie Hunt and drove me crazy...they always seem to cut her off!) they had a bunch of warnings and watches up. there was another one an hour or so later...a couple different waves of storms blowing across PA and NJ/CT to NY.
I hope Mags is okay!

I know the storms that missed us mostly were in a line and it was thinned in the middle, we were in that thinned middle. Probably broke up a bit and turned into two lines of storms after it left our area.

Hi jean - and others,

It's in "how's the weather" topic, and yeah, we did get hit in a major way - some areas on the Philly side won't get power restored until Monday or later - over on the South Joisey side, it'll be Sunday - but trees down, roads closed, damage to property, it was BAD.

Jim

Sure sounds like it Bob. We had folks here too without power for 4 days after that same storm hit here. At least the storm we got last night was milder than they have been lately.

i see that there are still outages all over..i hope it doesn't take that long for folks to get their electric on! you'd think in a place like NJ and CT they'd be able to get it done fast! lasting outages like that in MI only seemed to be out in the country!

And our farmers are complaining we've had too much rain and they're getting stuck in the fields and the crop is drowning!

crops here are dying before they can get high enough to make anything..they were showing corn in the fields on the news a day or two ago and it wasn't even waist high and the tassels were all dried and dead. i always wonder why farmers can't get sprinkler systems or something flown over the crops to wet them down when there are people wasting water to wash their cars and water their lawns!

It costs a lot to put in and use a sprinkler system (we have farmers here who use them occasionally). Our corn is about neck-high on me but the fields are so wet they're mud. Anything heavier than a mouse sinks in.....

the next day i remembered the correct word...irregation. that's what the farmers need. it can be done with these sort of hanging over the crops sprinklers and i think i remember them watering view sort of crop dusters back home.

I wish they'd put something like those in for us humans, a giant sprinkler for us to walk, stand, or bike through to stay cool. They don't even open hydrants for the kids anymore.....
