They are just TOO cute. I'm really glad the swimmer baby is getting his feet under himself. I agree with Sue about his look. "Whatchu looking at?"

Absurd to anthropomorphise a kitten from the "expression" on his face caught in a random instant by a photo ---but OMG!!! He's like, "Hey! YOU try growing up and getting your legs under you! Not so easy, is it? This took some WORK!" He speaks the truth!
Well done, little kitty darling, well done!

Re: Kittens in a bag
I give the kittens 3 supplemental meals each day. The black kitten in the pic is the biggest kitten, but he's the only one who will not eat kitten mush (Fancy Feast Kitten Food, goat milk, KMR 2nd Stage, water) from a dish. He insists on a bottle. They will all eat Kitten Chow, though, so I can leave them home when I'm at school. When it's feeding time, I open their kennel and they run into the bathroom. I feed them in the tub, as they are messy eaters. I put the slowest eaters in a few seconds ahead of the others, and then everyone else. I feed the big furry kitten w/ a bottle, as he just stands there and screams. After they eat, they have play time while I clean up their kennel and put hot water in their hot water bottle. Then they have a long nap. Starting next week, we'll go to 2 supplemental meals, and free feeding of Kitten Chow.

Awwwww.....that lil guy just isn't quite ready to grow up. Or he doesn't like the competition at the bowl in the tub. They really are adorable though either way.
Wish I was there, I can imitate a kitty meow very convincingly.....ask anyone near me here in Rockton. It's good enough to get curious kitties out from under places, including the last trailer I lived in. Bet I could get them out for you in a few days, if not in one day....most likely one kit at a time.

Fiff, they RUN into the bathroom for their meals! They are such little piggies. They don't hide at meal time.
I've rescued some kittens by mewing at them too. If they're little, lost, and feral, that's the best way to get them over to you. My cat Keira was a tiny 5 week old lost kitten in the middle of the road. I called to her, and she ran away, but when I mewed at her, she ran to me. Her eyes were so infected they were swollen shut, so she thought she was going to her mama (which turned out to be true, I guess.) She was pretty surprised when she was grabbed up by a big old human.

Shadow was like that for her entire 14 years. You could call to her, and she would walk away. If you mewed, she'd come right over. She was a kitten for her whole life I guess.

Mewing works better with kittens than with cats.

Re: Kittens in a bag
When my mom or I mew at Bijoux he usually will answer us with a mew of his own. Makes me wonder what we're saying to each other......
Any word on whether or not any other kits came out to join their bolder brother from under that trailer?

I haven't heard from the man who picked up the trailer kitten. That may be because he knows I have no place to put any more kittens right now.

Re: Kittens in a bag
We were able to have conversations with Fred and he mewed back as if he understood what we were saying. Fred loved hard boiled eggs. Every time I asked Fred if he had a hard boiled egg that day, he didn't respond. Fred may have learned to recognized that question and knew by not answering, he might get a hard boiled egg.

He sure was smart!
gbste, even if you don't have room for one more, you'd find someone and somewhere to put a lost kit if he caught one, wouldn't you?

Fiffur, I'm sure I could lean on someone to take a little orphan at least until there was room at my place. We wouldn't let anything bad happen to a baby kitten. (That's why my house is such a mess, but that's another story.)

Re: Kittens in a bag
Is that why my house is a wreck? I don't have nearly so many kitties, but I am willing to accept that THEY are the messy ones.

Re: Kittens in a bag
And sometimes WE are the messy ones since we're so busy cuddling, playing, and in general spending all our time with our kitties that there's no time to do something so boring as cleaning. Much more fun playing with the kitty!

Fred sure did figure out how get his hard boiled egg.
Would the 'cats are the masters and humans are the staff' explain why a house be messy?

Re: Kittens in a bag
I have to confess that I have 2 favorites in this group. I love them all, of course, but the little blue eyed orange and white kitten is very endearing. He will have a whole conversation with me. I talk, and he mews--very cute. The furriest swimmer is a special boy too. Gotta love the way the tips of his ears twitch as he drinks his bottle. I'm cutting down on the amount of formula each day--he's really too big to be on the bottle any more, but he's so darned cute!

Awwwww........who could resist a bottle baby? Even if he is a bit big for it...... Will the orange & white boy keep his blue eyes? I've always loved kitties who liked to carry on a lengthy conversation.

Re: Kittens in a bag
Fiff, I don't know whether he'll keep his baby blues or not yet. He may keep the blue color, as there are some siameses in the feral population where he is from. All the other kittens' eyes are changing, but he's not related to any of them, and is not exactly the same age.

Re: Kittens in a bag
If Baby Blue Eyes really is part Siamese, that might explain his happy conversations. Siamese are known for being talkative. How funny, if he kept the Siamese eyes and personality while being white & orange. Not the usual Siamese colors, that's for sure!
Swimmer Boy sounds like he will keep on the bottle as long as he can purrrsuade you to give it to him! And who can blame him? Why not take all the comfort you can get?

Re: Kittens in a bag
We've had a couple of lilac point kittens from that area, and a couple more flame points too, so he may be related to those, or he could grow out of the blue any day now. We'll see.

My friend has a grown Siamese and a new kitten. They TALK. It's really cute, but if you aren't used to it, it can sound worrisome.
