Cold and windy here, feels a lot like fall, complete with dead leaves lying around swirling in the breeze.

I have some family in Florida.

Are they on their way out? I know they've issued evacuation orders for the Miami area and Keys. I'm glad they did it really early. Miami-Dade is a huge area with lots of people to get out. And Florida is so narrow. I can't imagine.

I don't know. I need to ask them. My last surviving aunt is in her 90's.

I have a cousin down there, the other branch of the family is in Texas....and they did have to evacuate.

From what I've heard the entire southern part of the state is being evacuated and the northern half of FL is on standby. The way they usually do it is every single lane of both sides of the highways go one way: north. They don't force you to leave though but if you stay don't expect to be rescued later on when you're stranded on the roof surrounded by rising water.

Started off beautiful and progressed to torrential storms. Now it's cool and WET outside.

Still too dratted cold for this time of year here. Went from summer to late fall literally in one day!

Cool early fall weather. It's a bit cooler than normal, but not awful.

It's been pleasant but not cool. It did feel chilly this morning but then it was warm in the house last night since the a/c never kicked in.

It's beautiful and quiet here today. I feel a weird low-level panic for FL, and watching the storm come in. So glad it's not coming here, but so frightened for them.

I'm with you. The satellite photos are terrifying, I can't imagine trying to ride it out.

How about the two coming in now? Not sure what track they're going to take but will be very similar to the last two. I have a feeling this will be a VERY active hurricane season.

It's almost over though. 10/31 is the end of the season (although no one tells the storms that). Jose might scrape by us and give us rain/wind. But, they think it will go farther north. The next one... It's too early to tell. I'm hoping to avoid all tropical fun and games for another year.
