Re: Movie Reviews
It was REALLY good. It's not a typical movie. It's relatively short, but it tells one story from several perspectives. I definitely recommend it.

Wasn't planning on staying up so late last night but mom had a movie on tv called The Others. Pretty good movie with a twist at the end I wasn't expecting.

Tried to watch Miss Congelatity. Who cares about the spelling total waste of my time and everybody else. I'm not pc but that thing was beyond the pale.
Just finished watching the first episode of season 2 of Foyle's War. Fantastic series.

Re: Movie Reviews
Ferdinand was just another forgettable talking animal movie that also suffers from All the Best Parts are in the Previews Syndrome. I thought it would have been better. The 1938 Disney short is a much better version of the tale.
It was certainly much better than Blue Sky's last movie but since that movie was the boring pointless Ice Age 5 that really isn't saying much.

I don't know who recommended it but watched How to Train your Dragon. Dreamworks did an outstanding job. The plot was banal as they come but the studio really shined with animation, sound effects, and sound track. On that alone it's worth the time.

Re: Movie Reviews
I'm mad. It didn't play ANYWHERE convenient for us. We did go see Paddington 2 last night. It was everything expected - light fun with some subtle humor. I thoroughly enjoyed it since I didn't want a huge drama or "heavy" movie. It was purely feel-good stuff, and completely predictable. Perfect for the end of a really long week.

Re: Movie Reviews
Miss Potter was a lovely and moving film about the early career and first romance of Peter Rabbit creator Beatrix Potter.
It only got rated PG because the word bastard is used once.

Just finished watching Dunkirk. This is not your typical war movie and it did well in the technical catergories at the Oscars. It did get draggy in parts, you know long tracking shots ala Stanley Krubrick. Still well crafted and the sound track was excellent. If you're familiar with Elgar's Engima Varitations then you will recognize the the riff on Nimrod at the end.

Just finished watching Wonder Woman. I don't know what all the hype was about but it was terrible. I'm giving two popcorns simply because of special effects at the end and fight choregraphy.

Finally saw Braveheart tonight. BBC America was running it. Okay, I know it's from 1995 but I really couldn't get into Mel Gibson and he still doesn't do a lot for me. Anyway back to the subject at hand, I want rate it because well it wasn't that great but it sure beat PBS begging for alms.

Re: Movie Reviews
Okay, since the forum seems to be up again. I watched Victoria & Abdul. It's based on something that happened in the last years of Victoria's reign. Again if you're looking at historical accuracy, you're looking in the wrong place. Still Judi Dench shone as Victoria in her waning years, a stellar supporting cast, great writing. Just an all around well crafted movie.

Watched the Equalizer tonight. This is based on series that ran in 80's starring Edward Woodward. First things first, this is a violent film not gory but violent. Two Danzil Washington is not Edward Woodward. Washington has the dark, brooding hero down to a science. He can do more with one look than others can do with twenty minutes of dialogue. The writing was crisp, the cinemantopghry excellent.

Caught on the Secret Life of Pets or at least part of it till Blood Bloods came on. I don't know what studio that came out of it but it was beyond lame. Even the animation was sub par. No rating.

Re: Movie Reviews
That movie was so disappointing for me. It had nothing to do with the secret life of pets! It was just another Mismatched Buddies Trying to Get Back Home story.

Watched the Post last night. Hanks and Streep were good but they didn't seem to be at the top of their game. Also I didn't think the writing was that great, still it's it own way it was a well crafted film.
