Bingo has started to woof the cats. We have to stop spoiling him and feeding him from our plates. We are making him defensive of his treats. So, no one gets treats from plates and everyone eats from their various dishes. He might have a disease, but we can't let that be a reason to have bad behavior.

That's not good. Hopefully the disease isn't causing a behavior change.

I don't think so. I think he is being territorial about food. He has been fine with the kitties otherwise. He knows if he barks, they leave their food. So, we have moved eating areas so everyone is in safe spots and no one gets fed from people plates. So far, so good.

That sounds look a good plan. I had a dog that the cats would bully out of her food. Silly dog.

Everything's back to normal food-wise. I guess Bingo was just feeling grumpy. He has started on his NSAID meds, and seems to feel better. It definitely helps with the inflammation. He is breathing easier, and we can tell when it's time for the next pill because he starts to snort. He gets some blood work done tomorrow to be sure the meds aren't hurting his kidneys or liver. It's a small chance, but since he is going to be on it long term, they want to be sure it works for him.

Glad to hear that all is normal again. Is he good about taking his meds? i had one that as long it was stuffed in a piece of stew beef all was good. Better safe than sorry, I guess they always change the meds.

He's doing great with the meds. We just hide it in his pumpkin at breakfast and his soft food at dinner. I guess it must have some yummy dog flavor in it because he hasn't batted an eye.

Yeah... It's an NSAID, so if this one isn't working, another one will. It seems to be treating the symptoms perfectly, so I hope they don't need to change.

I messed up. Bingo went for blood work while he was at playcare on Monday. I forgot to ask for them to also give him his Cytopoint (itch) shot while he was there. So, he will need to go back next Monday when he is at play care. We are very lucky that play is at the vet's place, and all I need to do is sign a slip for them to pick him up for his little procedures. Very convenient. Smile

The vet called today and said that Bingo's bloodworm came back fine. They want to check again in six months to be sure it isn't affecting anything with the long term use. Easy enough. I'm hoping that we are still doing this well in six months.

Bingo has a girlfriend! When my husband went to pick him up from playcare, he was sharing a pillow in the lobby with another older hound. They were curled up together like they'd been buddies forever. The people said they hang out all the time. I need pictures!

I think Bingo has a little infection in his nose. He started having some discharge that is a little yellow. It isn't bad, and he seems to feel fine. But, we want to be sure he doesn't need antibiotics. The doctor thought he might off/on during this journey. So, off to the vet tomorrow. Afterwards, we plan to do a short walk in Colonial Williamsburg if it isn't too warm. If it is warm, we'll walk from a parking lot to our favorite sandwich shop so he can have 1/2 a sandwich (just the meat).

UGH!! I hope it's nothing serious. The half of sandwich sounds tasty. I'm sure it will more than make up for the trip to the vet.

Nothing serious. Just the expected infection. Better treated early than waiting for it to get really yucky. We took a short walk through the farmers market, had sandwiches, and strolled down Duke of Gloucester St. He wore out on the way back to the car, so my husband sat with him in the shade while I went back for the car. He charmed all the people who walked by, of course. Smile

WHEW!!! Like the old adage better an ounce of preventation than a pound of cure. How was the market, one of my neighbors came home from one of ours with two Israeli melons. And of course he charmed everyone, he is a true Southern gentlemen.

I just scoped the market today. Didn't want to haul purchases all over in the heat while we strolled. Next week, I'll go back for shopping and Bingo can stay home so he doesn't get overheated. It's a fantastic market. Smile

Bingo's nose still has discharge. He's been on antibiotics for about a week and a half. Not sure if it's an actual infection or a side effect of the tumor. If it doesn't clear up by the weekend, I'll call the vet on Monday. I really don't want to do another recheck. He seems to feel just fine. He was running around the yard today with his ears flopping and his tail wagging.

Unfortunately, no. He is now our booger dog. The vet and I both think that the tumor is just irritating his nose, so he has boogers. It's gross, but he's good about me cleaning his face. So far, he seems alright other than the gross stuff. He eats well, bounces around the yard, and enjoys his walks as long as it's not hot outside. He has never liked the heat.
