Re: Fred Friend
Today there were no triggers. He was boarded while we went away for 5 days. He got to play every day. Today, he's sacked out on his chair. He went for a short walk, but that's about it.

Re: Fred Friend
Apparently, he gets worn out by hot weather that he doesn't experience. As soon as the temperature goes above 90, he's sacked out.

Re: Fred Friend
Today we walked in the park because the pavement gets hot for paws. The weather was amazing - 75 and breezy. He had a great time, met another hound, and did NOT bark at the kids on bikes. Such a good dog!

Re: Fred Friend
I bought a collar that has pheromones for him. I am hoping it calms him down for scary things like storms and the UPS truck. It seems to be helping a bit with his reaction to some other dogs. He isn't as uncontrollable even though he still barks.

I hope it helps. They've helped my cats in the past.

Re: Fred Friend
So far, so good. We had big storms yesterday while he was at play care. They say that he wasn't cowering even though he was quite worried. That's an improvement. I think being around other dogs helped too. The people, of course, bring all the dogs inside where there are nice little cubbies where they can den up, and big open play rooms where they can huddle. Each dog can find its comfort place.

Re: Fred Friend
He's making leaps and bounds. He is starting to go to the neighbor's house to play with her dog sometimes. He doesn't get in the pool with the other dogs, but he does like to lie under the big tropical plants and watch them get wet.

Re: Fred Friend
Fred has achieved full slug dog status. It's going to rain a lot from the edge of the storm that will pass to our south. He is already camped on his chair snoring!

Junko snores loud enough to be heard over the tv. She could have taken lessons from Lorien. Lorien snored loud enough to be heard across the room.

Re: Fred Friend
I wonder why we find our pets' snoring cute and other people's annoying.

Re: Fred Friend
Bwahaahaa! True. Although Fred can really snort with the best. My favorite thing is when he talks in his sleep. He has the hound howl muted and it sounds like he's chasing rabbits.
