i don't know who the bank manager is....they just pawned me off to another person who was on the counter. of course at this bank i think most everyone does most everything. i need to write something out and then find their customer service online and write them. i just need to do it when i can think well and word things correctly.

when my savings account wnet below a certain amount they started taking out a monthly fee.
I don't bother with those offers now for cards where you can get "free stuff"I learned my lesson years ago where you had to spend $5000 a year to get an exclusive Beanie baby

I had a bank do that to me too, without any notice that they were imposing that "not enough in the account" fee. I complained but didn't get my money back but I did close out my account and told them exactly what I thought about their fees after being a loyal customer (and loan payer) for decades--loudly enough for everyone standing in line to hear.

I'm thankful for places to go that have AC in this weather. Wish at least one of them was open overnight.

well,i'm watching...if the free checking stops being free i'll go looking for another bank. i've had accounts where you had to have $300 in your checking acoount for it to be free and didn't like it (but it was the only bank i could get to easily and i've learned not to go to banks that are out of the way). they've tried to talk me into this special accounts for anyone over 50 or to start a money market (they've really started hitting me hard on that one) and i keep telling them i don't care how little interest i make i just want everything as simple as possible.
i'm sure they have the same deal going with them that we have at my job..you're pushed to get so many new accounts or new this or that like we're pushed to get people to sign up for the credit card, the rewards card, the protection plans, the batteries, the resales on games and movies.....i have to ask so many questions that sometimes i've finished bagging and ringing things up before i have the questions asked!

My bank did the same thing to me. Trying to sell me things I don't need or can
afford.

I'm thankful the library and my mom's building has AC. Otherwise I think I'd be dead from this heat.

Don't you wish you could box up some of that cool air and take it home with you Lovekitties? I know I do.

thankful the house has AC....the store is HOT! i'm sure ac is probably working but its not working hard enough and the front of the store with the huge windows and the doors opening over and over makes it almost as hot as it is outside!

i swear they are doing brownouts, sometimes it seems like the fan isn't working too hard.

Thankful for AC and that the subways cars have been cool. If only they figured out how to keep the platforms cool

lk i saw on the NYc news that it was 127 in some of the subways.....i'm surprised people aren't getting heat stroke waiting for trains!

i'm thankful i made it through the day...not just walking homeon the turnpike (it was 100 in the shade when i got to the house) but also madeit through work as the only cashier and with a multitude of computer things not working. thankfully i only had one woman completely flip out on me and manager flip out because of it. (Won't go into it further)

That we were able to get the walk in cooler back up and running today. While it wasn't cheap, it wasn't
bank breaking expensive.

I'm surprised nobody got heatstroke either. And Jeane, do your managers realize that computers don't like hot temps? It's no wonder it wasn't working properly, it was probably overheating. Computers actually work better in a cooler room, like 60-65°.

I'm extremely thankful for the cooling thunderstorms we're getting right now!

lk have you looked into one of those ac units that sit on the floor inside? they don't take too much space and you'd be able to sleep! or could you possibly stay with a friend at least for the weekend til the heat breaks? it was 114 here in NJ today!

No kidding, which is it?

I've seen those freestanding AC units. They have a vent pipe that goes out the window. They work very well too, they have one in the computer room at my mom's building. Not very big but works fast!

speaking of the nip... i'm thankful it didn't rain in the night or today! i snipped some nip yesterday and left the little cup i put it in outside and forgot to bring it in last night! when i got home it was almost completely dry! (If i had spread it out if WOULD be dry!).i'm glad it didn't get wet cuz it might have gotten moldy!
trying to harvest as much as i can this year to make it through the winter:) so far i have one of these little paper cups that trader joes give you a sample of coffee in full...will have to switch that over to a baggy i guess! (i can just see the cops raiding this place and finding bags of odd dried green leaves;) )

Jeane, I had to laugh, Several years ago we had a major scandal here in Dallas.
People were arrested and sent to prison over bogus drug charges. Turns out the coke
was pool chalk. It's funny to us but not to the people who had their lives ruined.
