Today, a certain doggie went to get clean. He was at the groomer for 2 hours. Ask him, and he'll tell you he ran up Mount Everest, rescued a tiny Chihuahua, and then had to fly a plane all the way to Mexico to drop off his charge. He's exhausted!

Re: Fred Friend
He did. He also had a BAD doggie time last night. He was begging for our food (which I have been trying to discourage). Mouski came from under the table, and Fred attacked him. Nothing bad, and he stopped as soon as he realized it was Mouski, but I am displeased with the reaction. Fred will now spend people mealtimes in another room. We can't have that behavior.

Re: Fred Friend
I don't know what triggered him. Usually he and Mouski are as thick as thieves. He was having a hard day all day. Lots of over-reaction. I bought him some THC drops. Maybe dope will help. LOL

Re: Fred Friend
I hope they do too. Do you think that it could because of the move?

Re: Fred Friend
They have made up and are best pals again. I think some of it is the move, some of it is that we were eating in the dining room rather than flopped on the couch, and some of it was just Mouski surprising Fred around food. I don't think there was any malice since Fred quit as soon as he realized it was Mouski. He still got in serious trouble and put outside for the remainder of the night.

Re: Fred Friend
We started a THC supplement called No More Wiggles. It seems to be taking the edge off a lot of things. He doesn't get as wound up when the mailman stops or the UPS guy delivers a package. And, he doesn't bark his head off when the neighbor husky goes for a walk. I think he was just too easily stimulated. I can't say that I endorse pot, but I endorse pot.

As long as it works and doesn't give him the munchies.

Re: Fred Friend
Nope. But... He's a dog. He ALWAYS has the munchies. LOL
Today, he discovered that he likes canned pumpkin. He's always snubbed it, but today I was making pumpkin bread. It's one of the things that is still delicious to me, so I decided I would bake. I had some left over because the recipe calls for about 2/3 of a can. So.. I decided to eat some myself and share with Fred. He must have heard from Bingo because he munched it right down. I'm glad that I found something he finds tasty that is inexpensive and good for him.

That's great. And you're right about always having the munchies. I've never been a big fan of pumpkin bread. Banana on the other hand.

Re: Fred Friend
I love all the winter squash. Always have, and now that it's one of the things that tastes right, I love it more. I adore banana bread. Bananas, too, taste good. I will make some bread from the ones that go spotty. I am fussy about those fruits. Once they're spotty, they are destined for smoothies or bread.

Fred is going on an adventure today. We're going up to visit the horses, and the farm owners say that he's welcome to come. They have two wonderful dogs that Fred will love to meet. He will also get to see his very own horses again. I think he misses Envoy. The two of them used to play together a bit.

Re: Fred Friend
that sounds like fun. Are you able to ride or is that on hold for awhile. Give them some carrots with tops on them for me.

Re: Fred Friend
Riding is on hold. The horses are at a retirement farm that does not allow riding because of insurance. They are taking excellent care of the horses, so I am happy for that. I will work on riding next summer most likely.
Fred was very happy to be able to get out of the car and romp a bit. It was a rainy, cold day, but it stopped for just long enough to feed carrots and pet noses. I miss those ponies!

Re: Fred Friend
I'm sorry to hear that riding is on hold but it's understandable. I was wondering about the ponies but was hesitant to ask. Situations like this are fraught to say the least.
Sounds like Fred had fun. bet he was muddy when all was said and done. And the carrots had tops on them right?

Re: Fred Friend
The horses are at a wonderful farm. The herd is pretty small and they have the most beautiful acreage. Lu is with other skinny oldies and is getting grain to keep his weight up. Envoy and Ruby are with the larger herd and have unlimited hay. They are all happy as pigs in sh*t.
Yes, the carrots had tops. They weren't all that beautiful because it's winter, but tops nonetheless.

That's great. As long they had tops. That's all that counts. You know the tops are edible and are great in soups, stews, and stock.

Re: Fred Friend
If the horses don't eat them first, yes.
Did you know sweet potato leaves are that way too? Don't eat them raw, but cooked, they're delicious.

YUM! Sweet potatoes are my favorite food right now. Of course, the tops are long gone, but fortunately I stocked up on potatoes a while ago.

Re: Fred Friend
I'm going to get the Irish ones today. Prepping for NY dinner. Potatoes are just a staple for this Irish/German girl. Sweet potatoes are still my favorite though. I am fussy about them too. I like a bunch of different varieties, but not the white or purple ones.
