Does that cabinet seal pretty tight? Schmice can get into some very tiny thin places.

Schmice could definitely get in. It seals tightly enough to keep dust and dirt out, but those little buggers can get into anything. I'm thinking we'll have to keep the food on the back porch if we stock up. I might not do it though. It depends on whether Sabi and Casper will need to up their food intake for the winter. Right now, all the boys are on diet rations because they get plenty of grass. If they can continue to eat light for the winter, the increase in price won't be too bad. I am working on ordering my first load of hay for the winter. That's where the money goes! Ouch.

From what I've been hearing, that could be very painful.

It hasn't screamed yet. It's quivering in fear.

Then I must've heard someone else's wallet yelling ouch.......probably the folks with ponies up the road from the library.

My wallet is cringing, too afraid to come out.

Monday is chiropractor vet day for all the boys. Envoy has a sore right hip, so I'm hoping the chiropractic treatment helps that. He isn't lame. He just is sore on that hip. He's always favored that side, so I guess there might be something going on. I just hope it isn't too painful for the wallet!

Sabi and Casper will get treatments just to keep them comfortable.

The only problem with Monday is that I need to make 2 trips in each directions since I have 3 horses and a 2 horse trailer.

Bleah!!! So not fun.

How did the boys' appointments go? Everyone feeling a bit better now?

They go on Monday, so we'll see. I'm sure it'll be fine. Envoy looks very comfortable today since it isn't brutally hot. Maybe we got out of the usual August doldrums because July was SO hot?

Ha! Wouldn't it be nice to think so? Actually our weather for the next week looks relatively mild -- 80's they say. We'll take it.

We can only hope the hot weather is behind us.........but I don't think summer is done with us yet. We're due for another journey into the broiler before fall hits, probably just as school starts with my luck.

Envoy rides alone since he's used to going places by himself. Sabi and Casper share the trailer. At first it was hard loading the tow of them because neither one wanted to wait for the other to get in. Now, Sabi marches in first and Casper comes right in after. I always laugh when people say they have trouble loading their horses. I have trouble keeping my horses from loading themselves!

You know the latter problem is one I can always handle.

I think a lot of horsey people would second that emotion Sue!

What would happen if someone was loaded in after Envoy?

had to be opened. Other than that he had no vices.

There would be no problems if anyone loaded after Envoy. The problem is space. There are 2 slots and 3 horses. So, Envoy travels by himself because he doesn't mind it. The other two travel together to keep them comfortable and happy.

The day was perfect for hauling. It wasn't too hot, and the traffic wasn't bad. So, we made the trips without any fuss. At the beginning, Casper hesitated to get on the trailer, but when I told him he was going to see his buddies and have a sleepover, he decided it was time to get going.

Just took a mention of seeing his buddies to get him on......good idea. Nothing like the prospect of a slumber party to get anyone to get a move-along.

Oh, Becky, you're so good with Casper. Glad you and the boys had good trips!

Casper was a complete fruitcake while Sabi was getting his treatment. The vet gave him some sedation because he was turning himself inside out. No one could figure out why. It was really weird. The vet thinks something bad must have happened to him in a situation like that before. But, once he got his juice, he was fine for his treatment. He isn't very sore anywhere. Just a little tight in his left hip. Thank goodness, the vet didn't charge me for the sedation. I think he did it for his own sanity.

Envoy, on the other hand, had to have both stifles (kneecaps) injected. He's been sore for a while, and I want to prevent any bad things from happening. The vet said it isn't a bad lameness, and there there is some swelling. So, the theory is that these injections will help take care of the inflammation and discomfort. He gets 3 days of rest, 3 days of light riding, and then it's back to work. We should know in a couple weeks if the injections are doing the trick. (I hope they are! My walled had to choke up way more money than I had planned.)

Isn't that always the case. The situation with Casper makes you wish they could
talk.

Envoy is enjoying his days off. My trainer said he ran out to the pasture, but trotted shortly after that. I guess he's a bit sore from getting his kneecaps injected. I know I would be! He should start feeling better in a couple days, and then in a couple of weeks, he should feel lots better. (FINGERS CROSSED)

Poor Casper, he must've been remembering some horrible incident from his past. Shame he can't talk to a therapist about it.....
